The Walt Disney Company

Beginning as a small animation studio, the Walt Disney Company leapt to fame on November 18th, 1928, with the release of the short film Steamboat Willie, which premiered in the Colony Theater in New York. This is where Mickey Mouse was born and where one of the most successful and long-standing brands was created, which would later become a global leader in family entertainment: The Walt Disney Company.

Parallel to its success in films, TWDC began building theme parks. Walt Disney had always liked theme parks, but he began to dream of a place that the whole family could enjoy. This was the starting point for Disneyland, which opened on July 17th, 1955, in California. This was followed by Walt Disney World, built in Orlando in 1971, Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, Disneyland Paris in 1992 and Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005.
