FIVE GENERATIONS OF EXPERIENCE IN WINEMAKING

. Bodegas Torres was founded in 1870, although the family has been growing and tending vineyards in the Catalonian region of Penedès since the 17th century.

 

. Currently at the head of the company are the fourth and fifth generations of the family.

 

. The company has a presence in more than 150 countries, as well as 6 wineries in the main Designation of Origin (DO) regions in Spain and 2,000 hectares of their own vineyards. Abroad, it has wineries and vineyards in Chile (400 ha) and California (32 ha).

 

. With more than 50 wine brands, its most famous is Mas La Plana (DO Penedès), and its best-selling brands are Viña Sol and Sangre de Toro (DO Catalonia).

 

. Torres exports 70% of its wines and brandies, its main markets being in the United Kingdom, Mexico, the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland.

 

. In both 2014 and 2015 it was recognized as The World’s Most Admired Wine Brand by the British magazine Drinks International.

 

. Torres annually invests between 1 and 2 million euros on R&D&I, leading innovation in the sector.

 

. In 2008, the company launched the Torres & Earth program, with the aim of achieving a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions per bottle by the year 2020. It has already invested 10 million euros in energy efficiency and in the use of renewable energy.

 

. Bodegas Torres has recovered approximately 40 ancient varieties of Catalonian grapes, two of which are used in its Grans Muralles wine (DO Conc de Barberà).

 

. In 1986 it created the Miguel Torres Foundation, which runs projects aimed at helping children in need through the construction of schools and foster homes.

 

. Bodegas Torres has a visitor center in Pacs del Penedès, which receives approximately 100,000 visitors annually; and another in Priorat.
